The letters no one reads, and some other notes
Dear FanLib, Simon & Schuster, Continental Airlines, judges on Shear Genius, and just about everyone involved with season 8 of America's Next Top Model,

What the hell were you thinking? Clearly, all of you get paid to sit around and drink Diet Coke all day.

No love. Fix this crap.

Cedar

Links might come later, but right now I'm on my sidekick at the airport in New Orleans. Phoenix Rising was muchly fun and educationally delightful, but I have no pictures yet. Forgot to bring the camera. Except...

If you're the Snape I mistook for a vampire and tried to (not really, as there was no wood-to-person contact) stake at the Masquerade Ball, I apologize.

[info]reversathon fic: 4800 words, three different endings (not counted), no middle.

Haven't slept in nearly 24 hours. Longer letter later.

What costume did you end up going with for the Masquerade?

Sorry to hear about the crappy mail incident, by the way. People are horrible. Rar. *hugs*

Costume!

White chiffon tea-length spaghetti-strap dress with black embroidery near the hem, black strappy sandals, Mr. Cedar's black leather jacket, a big silver cross pendant on a black cord, and Mr. Pointy. I looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. I looked even better standing with [info]starrysummer, who was dressed as vampire!Willow (black corset and pants, cool gothy necklace, red hair, bored expression).

Re: America's Next Top Model. OMG, srsly, I know! Jaslene WTF? How is she EVER going to succeed as a commercial model? Or anywhere outside the US? Oh, yeah, she WON'T. It has never been more obvious that the whole point of ANTM is to be a successful TV show, not a real modelling competition (not that I haven't had my doubts for years, lol). *sigh*

Who were you rooting for? I certainly wasn't up for Jaslene. Ugh.

Well, of the final two we were actually given, Natasha, obvs. I mean she, at least, really hits the international market: baby-faced Slavic-looking women. She would have, at least, definitely booked some runway shows. Up until she was eliminated, I thought Brittany. She may have been dumber than dumb and whiny, but her editorial work was fab. I think she had a new, different look, and I think she could have won it, were it not for her meltdown (and the show's political directives).

It's really too bad the two plus-sized girls were ultimately rubbish. Diana was GORGEOUS, and except for the annoyingly flat photos, is the stuff superstar plus sized models are made of (A++ face plus really nicely toned curvy body).

I liked Brit too. I adored Whitney and Brit to start, and Nene grew on me. Natasha was . . . too perky for me - and I never knew if I truly believed her perkiness :(.

Sounds like you had a blast at PR! I am also wondering what S&S did to you!!

S&S didn't do anything to me personally, nor do I currently have a gripe about any of their books, but they just instated a new policy that is really bad for their authors. There's an entry on it at [info]makinglight that explains better than I will over my tiny sidekick keyboard :)

*toddles off to read* I can't wait for you to get home so we can trash ANTM together. OMG JASLENE?! WTF?

I knew Jaslene would win when she cried to Tyra. It was like, "America, we have a winner here." She who cries the best during the final Talk With Tyra always wins.

Natasha should have gotten it though.

Hey, I get paid to sit around and drink diet coke all day. Though I prefer diet Dr. Pepper and when I drink it all day, I feel like I've been saturating myself with aspartame and am going to die.

Anyway, hope your flight back went well. See you soon. :-D

This has nothing to do with your post (although YAY I'm glad you had fun at PR!) but rather has something to do with your icon. I finished The Golem's Eye yesterday and, just, THANK YOU for reccing this series to me. Serious serious love going on. ♥

Have you read The Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson? It's my next to-read book as it's also a Mark Twain winner for next year and the premise sounds intriguing. Just wondering if you had and what you thought!

OMG YES YOU HAVE FOUND THE LOVE THAT IS JONATHAN STROUD. Someday I want to take a writing class from that man. Totally brilliant, aren't they?

Have not read Kingdom Keepers. It's not the type of book I really like to read, but I've heard good things about it.

Am about 150 pages into Kingdom Keepers and I am still intrigued. I think what I like most about it is that it's set at Disney World, and while I've only been twice I really *loved* Disney and am really hoping to go back.

You were totally right about Stroud's dialogue - he has *such* a way with words that makes me completely jealous. :)) I am so sad that there's only one book left in the Bartimaeus Trilogy for me to read, but before I leave the bookstore I am so going to purchase all three books as I simply must have them for my collection, and it's much more thrifty if I use my employee discount to get them. :-P
