Because sometimes we just need adorable pictures of adorable cats.

Adorable, but image-heavy )

Are we all happier now? I am.

I'm sick and buried under a mountain of work, so my post on the Sassy book and Beauty Shop for Rent will have to wait. Have some pictures of my kittens in the meantime.

Henry and Beezus! )

Thank you to everyone for your kind comments about Ramona. Mr. Cedar and I are feeling very empty without her. I couldn't respond, but your thoughts mean a lot.

Beezus has been crazy lonely without Ramona, following us around the apartment and making sure one of us is there when she eats (but she has been eating, and I cannot tell you how relieved I am about that), so we took her to the pet-sitter's for some company. She'll be there while we're in Florida this week, playing with their three kids, dog, and cat. And when she comes home, we're getting her a kitten. We've already pre-adopted a 10-week old male gray-and-white tabby and named him Henry. At the shelter, Henry jumped out of another person's arms and onto Mr. Cedar's shoulder, where he started purring. It was a sign. We're all still very lost and weepy about Ramona, but we're also glad to be able to give Henry a good home, and to give Beezus a companion. Pictures will come.

Mr. C and I are leaving tomorrow for Florida, where we'll visit a large mouse and alternate visits to Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. And sometime between now and January 20th I have to read 40 books. *headdesk*

No pictures, sorry, although I did take some the other day. This is just a story.

Today, Beezus and Ramona went to the vet for their last round of immunizations. I find they prefer to travel in the same carrier. They whine less and they cuddle when they're together. So I packed them up, put them in the car, and took them to the vet. Bee whined. Mo didn't seem to notice.

When the vet tech called them, he said, "Ramona? And Beatrice? Those are soap-opera names!" I told him no, they're from a children's book series, and another woman in the waiting room said, "Ramona the Pest, right?" SOMEONE gets it.

Since I saw a new vet today (same animal hospital where we've always taken them, just a different doctor), I spent a little time filling her in on their medical history. She admired them in their carrier and was astonished that they weren't littermates, because they have similar eyes and the gray of Bee's spots is almost identical to Ramona's coat. They're also the same size. I was telling her how well they get along when Ramona stretched out along the side of the carrier and rolled over onto her back.

Two seconds later, Bee looked up at the vet as though to say, "Want to see how much I love Ramona?" and she sat down on Ramona's head.

Ramona is either the most tolerant cat on the planet or Beezus sits on her head more often than Mr. Cedar and I have observed, because she didn't do anything.

They are both happy and healthy and they have nice teeth and are a little on the small side, but they are good eaters and have tons of energy so they might just be naturally runty.

Beezus's newest friend: Lily )

Possibly will convert this picture into my new desktop wallpaper because that would be very meta )

And what cat would be complete without books? )

Ramona still has a stuffy nose and is snotty, so I'm off with Mr. Cedar to make her feel better.

Noted today: Beezus hates being alone. She follows us from room to room and meows plaintively if we're away for more than two minutes. Cutie.

Well, actually, it's two girls. Let's welcome the newest members of the Harry Potter fandom:

Beatrice a.k.a. Beezus. Poor thing needs more medicine for her eye. )

and Ramona )
Both girls together )

Things you can't see in the pictures:

Beezus is the most laid-back cat I've ever met. She let Mr. Cedar hold her like a baby.

Ramona has really sharp claws. Ow ow ow.

Beezus likes Mr. Cedar better than she likes me. I think Ramona does, too.

Ramona is an extrovert. She shoved the other kittens in her cage out of the way when we came by to see her. She's also very playful.

They can't leave the shelter for another four weeks, so they'll come home when I get back from ALA.

Beezus is going to be ENORMOUS when she grows up, I think. She's a week younger than Ramona but already significantly bigger.

squee!
